Christianity and inter-faith in Wales

There are representatives on the Interfaith Forum and Council for the Anglican Church, Roman Catholic Church, Free Churches, Churches Together (Cytûn) and the Evangelical Alliance.

For more information see:
Churches Together in Wales (Cytûn): www.Cytûn.org.uk
Evangelical Alliance Wales: www.eauk.org

Cytûn, The Churches Together in Britain and Ireland’s affiliated ecumenical instrument, has been mandated by its Board to place inter-faith dialogue as a high priority. It was pleased two years ago to host the CDF funded all Wales Interfaith Project.

Individual churches and denominations have also been more than willing to embrace other faith communities within national events held within their churches and cathedrals. Christian churches have quite significantly sent their key decision makers and leaders to the meetings of the Forum and the Council.

About the Christian Faith

Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and is the Messiah promised in the Old Testament. They believe in One God in Trinity of three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. They believe that Jesus walked this earth both fully God and fully man. That he died on the cross, was buried and then rose again.

Christians believe that Jesus’ death on the cross restored the broken relationship between God and man. To be saved, one must put his or her faith in the completed work of Christ on the cross.

Christianity is the majority faith in Wales, and indeed Wales is famous for its revivals of the early 20th Century. Despite the huge diversity in the practice of Christianity in Wales, choral song remains a uniting factor.
